How to arrive: 

Heraklion Airport

Please make sure you arrive to the Heraklion airport. There is only one airport in Heraklion, Nikos Kazantzakis Airport, code HER. Heraklion (also sometimes written as Iraklio or Iraklion) is located at the north coast of the island, at about the middle of the island on the east-west axis.

Airport to hotel

Distance from airport to any of these hotels is about 10-20 minutes, depending on traffic/time of the day. Taxi fair should be about 15 Euros. There are taxis parked outside the arrival terminal of the airport.

Hotel to FORTH

For visitor information please take a look at:  

FORTH is located outside the city. Best way to reach FORTH is by taxi. Distance from hotels to FORTH is about 20 minutes by taxi. Fair should be around 15 Euros. Please ask at the reception of your hotel for a taxi. If you are taking a taxi directly from the airport to FORTH, distance should be about 20-30 minutes (they are at different ends of the city). Fair should be about 20 Euros.

Within the FORTH campus

The meeting room for the review will be the “Alkiviades Payatakes” meeting room, which is located in the main FORTH building (Building A). The main FORTH building is straight ahead as you enter the campus. The taxi will drive you right at the entrance of this building. Once you enter the building, there is a floor plan on your right, but there will also be signs to guide you to the meeting room.

Workshop Description

The goal of this workshop is to bring leading researchers from HPC, cloud computing and data analysis communities together to jointly explore their integration, and to develop a research agenda towards brings the diverging research groups and technologies stack toward a more convergent path. The workshop provides a forum for scientists and engineers in academia and industry to present their latest research findings on major and emerging topics in this field.

From the Airport
CA offices are approximately 15 minutes from Heathrow Airport.

By car
Leave the M4 at Junction 5 and follow signs for Langley. At the first set of traffic lights - the Marriott Hotel is on the left - turn left. Follow the road, cross over roundabout and pass first road on your right. Ditton Park is the next turning right.

Visitors parking is clearly signposted to the front of the building.

By train
Trains leave Paddington for Slough approximately every 20 minutes. Ditton Park is a short taxi ride from the station.

How to arrive: 

From the Airport
Barcelona airport is at 12 Km from the city. More information about Barcelona’s airport: You can arrive with different transport methods from the airport to BSC.

By taxi
In T1, you will find a taxi stand in the arrivals zone (P0) and in the Barcelona-Madrid air corridor; in T2, opposite terminals T2A, T2B and T2C. If they are available, they will show a green light with the text LIBRE or LLIURE (it means “available”). You can check fees at

By car
If you rent a car from the airport (T1), please leave “El Prat del Llobregat” and take C-32B. Continue along this route and head towards Ronda de Dalt / Lleida / Girona. Close to Barcelona, take route C-32 passing close to Cornellà del Llobregat and L’Hospitalet. Take B-20 and take Exit 10 called “Carretera d'Esplugues”. Take the street called “carrer del Gran Capità” and turn left towards Jordi Girona street.

By train
There is a Renfe suburban train. The airport station is situated opposite of terminal T2, and is connected to this terminal via an airbridge. There is also a Bus transit service between the Rail station and T1. From the airport to Barcelona Sants there is approximately 20 minutes journey. From this station, take the L3 (green line) in direction to “Zona Universitaria” and get off on the “Palau Reial” stop. You will have a 5-minutes walking distance to arrive to BSC. (

By Bus (Aerobus)
Airport stops: Bus stops at Terminal T1 and T2 (A, B, C)
Downtown stops: This line ends at Plaça Catalunya (city center). Once there, you may take L3 of the underground to "Palau Reial" or "Zona Universitaria" stations.

By metro
Metro Line 9 Sud, l9 Sud:

From the City Centre
Campus Nord of Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya is located at the North-West corner of the city, at the end of the Green Line (L3) of the underground. In order to reach the Campus by public transport, it is advisable to use the underground. There are two stations near to the Campus, “Zona Universitària” and “Palau Reial”, both on L3.
